Is it true that the Lord never put a monogram on one of his shirts tailored? Why? Yes it is true that most colleagues would never put a monogram on one of their clothes as they usually do not face a situation where someone outside their household must be able to say who owned the clothing.
If your situation is such that you now use a laundry service, a tiny monogram near the hem of your shirt is usually enough for laundry to be able to identify your clothes.
It is just considered tacky. Why Lord need to do? It's one of those things that looks like a sign of social status for the lower classes, but a true Lord would not need to do.
