Does anyone know how to remove the smell of urine from a cashmere sweater? My neighbor gave me a cashmere twin set in beautiful she had since '50 's. It is good quality cashmere and has only two tiny holes. The problem is that the jerseys were stored in his attic for a while and have a very strong smell of animal urine on them.
I had them dry cleaned and the smell dissipates some, but it is still perceptible. I really hate having to get rid of this beautiful, but I might be if I can not get rid of this smell. (They are completely unwearable on this point.) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Cashmere can usually make money hand, I use one of the enzymatic cleaners often used to cat urine, such as Nature's Miracle or OdoMute. Long immersion time and several changes of solution should be fine, but to minimize the agitation and do not bend or twist. pH of the final rinse should be slightly acidic.
uhhh ...=] Febreeze spray
Yes try bicarb soda soaked in a solution overnight
go to view on TV / sharper image store and buy a bottle of Urine Gone
