What is the best way to mount a coat rack on a hollow door? I need to add a coat rack (with five screw holes in it) on the back of a bathroom door hollow. Does anyone know the best way to do to make it strong enough to withstand the weight with the coats on that?
What type of plugs?
What is the length of screws?
Can it be done?
Thank you for your help!
The best way is to apply a strip of solid wood on the edges of the door, then screw the hooks of the band. The other way is to get the real expansion anchor designed for short panel thickness 01/08 to 03/16 "(" hollow core door anchors rather surprising) that resemble a coin with a hole in the middle when mounted.
As this http://www.dkhardware.com/product-13152- ... but should be available in home centers and hardware stores.
I always face the top type
The band 2 sides of genuine works well
The best thing for a hollow door is a coat hook with an adhesive back. Remove the protective coating, press hard, let stand for one day and hang the clothes.
Thru-bolts with washers on the back side would be stronger, but if appearance is very important mollies or toggles w / bolts just under the thickness of the door (1-11/4) would be my second choice .
