Scrap Recycling Manufacturing industries throws millions of tons of scrap each year without recycling in their industry. These scraps are now exported to developing countries like India, China and other Southeast Asian countries. The recycling process includes various stages such as collecting materials, processing and cleaning. When they are ready to use these recycled metals manufacturing industries will be returned to those who use recycled metals for their new products. The most common recycled products such as newspapers, plastic bottles, batteries do not fall within the metals recycling category. Aluminium and steel are the two main metals used for recycling. Most of these materials and products listed above are only recycled products. According to a survey of more than 70% of aluminum cans produced each year was produced from recycled metals. The recycling rate seems to be continuing to increase when it comes to aluminum cans. But this is not the same for the other metals.
Lack of awareness of recycling
Here is a list of some of the key factors which other metals are not recycled as aluminum. The advantage with the aluminum recycling process because of its closed loop recycling. Most aluminum cans are recycled within 60 days after they were used. In addition, they did not need big investments or expensive machinery to recycle those boxes while other metals such as copper, gold, silver and copper can not be recycled in small quantities. These metals require high-end technologies and machinery to make them ready to use for new products. Another major drawback is the lack of awareness among people with these products based on recycled precious metals. The recycled products with the label seem to have a negative impact among the people and they are treated as second class products.
Benefits with the recycling of metals
Statistics show U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, nearly 60% of aluminum cans made from recycled materials and 65% of steel cans are recycled and used. That alone saves $ 800 million annually. It does not make a profit with more recycled products. More than by studies at Imperial College London, recycling offers annual reductions of CO2 of 500 million tonnes. There may be insufficient resources in the future to maintain the current rate of consumption of metals. It is in our hands to minimize and reverse this damage by increasing the environmentally sound recovery and reuse of valuable materials like copper, aluminum, gold, silver, copper and silver.
Some developed countries like the United States have strict policies now reuse the materials listed above. Check with your local authorities before disposing of these valuable materials.
