Spanish superstar 23 years, Rudy Fernandez, could be the surprise of the NBA season as he had a good start in the preseason with his new team the Portland Trail Blazers.

Many, however, that the transition for Fernandez of European basketball to the NBA, might be a little hard for the Spaniard. However, he showed the crowd, teammates and coaches that he can play basketball anywhere in the world.

During its first five games of the preseason, the Spaniard has done amazing things. Fernandez has surprised everyone, he was the leading scorer on the fourth team with 12 points per game, he is also third in assists with 4.0 per game and leading the team in steals with 2.6 per game.

Blazers fans were impressed by the talent of Fernandez, there is just a complete player who can do everything from scoring, passing, and dipping to the defense. His efforts to help the team is a set end to end, it is for coaches and teammates that someone could be a key player for the start of the 2008-2009 season, and quite possibly, the title of rookie next year.

Fernandez began his career with DKV Joventut in 2001, winning championships over the years not only personal rewards but also as a key player. His best years were far this year in 2006 and 2008.

The Spaniard won in 2006 and 2008 league titles Catalan FIBA Eurocup 2006 and the Cup in 2008 the king of Spain and the ULEB Cup Championships. In 2004 he was awarded for the first time that the King's Cup MVP Espagne's, then in 2006, the FIBA EuroCup Final Four MVP.
