Ballet Tutu A ballet tutu is a skirt as a costume in a ballet performance, often with attached bodice. It might be a single layer, hang, or multiple layers starched and strutting about. It tends to add a floating movement ballerinas dance in them.

There are several types of ballet tutu:

Classic Tutu (Bell): A short stiff skirt made with layers of net-shaped bell and light fitted bodice. It extends outward from the hips and do not use a wired hoop. It is usually more of a classic (pancakes) tutu. They are used in the paintings of Degas famous ballet.
Classic Tutu (pancakes): A short stiff skirt made with layers of netting that extends outward (from the hips), and has a fitted bodice. The pancake style has multiple layers of network and uses a wire hoop and a lot of opportunity to keep basting the layers flat and rigid.
Balanchine / Karinska Tutu: also known as Puff "is similar to the bell and pancake tutu with the exception that no hoops are used and there are fewer layers of netting. The skirt is loosely turned to give a softer, fuller appearance. This style was originally designed for the ballet version of Bizet Symphony in C Georges. He has acquired a legendary reputation.
The tutu word may be a corruption of cucu, baby talk for cul-French cultural meaning roughly "botty-wotty" (for background) [citation needed]. Alternatively, it may result from tulle, tutus material are often made.
