How do I wash a velvet skirt? I bought a vintage shop (I should like to wash before wear) and he did not care a bit, label. It is velvet and has some stretch to it. Can I wash in the washing machine and I can put it in the dryer?
Proceed with caution here ... If it was cotton velvet you can wash it - and maybe dry safely (Tho only on a low heat for drying). It looks like it could be velvet polyester - which may or may not be washable. The fact that he has a little stretch makes me think it is likely poly-velvet. Try washing hands in cold water, then put in the spin cycle only in the machine washign. Hang dry ... if you feel adventerous and can live with it if it collapses or is damaged, you can try to dry at low temperature in the dryer. ... Good luck.
I suggest you have dry-cleaned with a sponge or cold water wipe. Please do not put in dryer. Clean washable velvet. remove any bad spots with a soft brush. Wash and rinse with warm water, spin briefly, and then spend time to dry. Once completely dry, brush in one direction with a soft brush
